WHATTHEHELL IS WRONG WITH THE AMERICAN IDOL COMMITTEE??? o__o Of all people, it shall be Ellen DeGeneres, who is going to replace Paula Abdul. When I heard the news, my brain went "I bet the Onion wrote it". After checking the internet and finding out the truth, I was even more bewildered and perplexed. I mean, what musical background does Ellen have? What, she sings in the shower? Or composes love sonnets to her wife? Come on, people! Ellen has her quirks and her amusing points, but honestly, she is a talk show host. For someone to fit the criteria of a "American Idol" judge, one has to be well-versed in music, it's various forms, and not be tone-deaf. Ellen, as amusing as she may be, is NOT (in my opinion) a great choice for American Idol. Paula, on the other hand, may have traits that make you think "loony bin" but at least had a reputation for music, and did various musical-related work. >__<
I never did watch American Idol last year, only a few bits, but if this year turns out lame, then I may stop watching altogether!
I'm losing all my favorite TV shows now. Like Heroes, only season 1 is awesome. The rest sux. I stopped watching it ages ago...*sigh* At least HOUSE and his sarcasm lives on!

And it totttallllyyy is the best so far! I mean, they got rid of the shaggy hair business for one (THANK GOD) and there are tons of scenes that are just so in character and perfect. Granted, a lot was cut from the book, but I didn't like the book that much myself...Harry turned all emo-boy and a lot was dragged out longer than it needed to be, IMO. Plus the "beast in his chest" shit was ridiculous. The romance was actually not nauseating this time around. Best part of it? Many, many scenes in which one or more characters is under some kind of influence (potion, alcohol, etc).
Totally didn't realize how much of that was in the book till I saw it in the movie, and then I cracked up that Rowling managed to fit teenage experimentation into the wizarding world- without people becoming outraged, no less.
